Disc Golf Pro Tour Match Play Championships
The most exciting event of the year is here in the form of the inaugural Disc Golf Match Play Championship, hosted and presented by Discmania. The top 16 men and 8 women of the Disc Golf Pro Tour were invited to compete, based on pro tour points through the Idlewild Open. The event takes place September 16-19th at the beautiful Steel Club DiscGolfPark. This is a match play style event, where players are seeded and put in brackets. Cumulative score does not matter. If you beat your opponent on a hole, you get a point. Score the same and no points are awarded. If a player is ahead by more points than holes remaining, the match ends.
Spectators
Spectator tickets are available for purchase now! There are two types of ticket options both of which can be purchased at the daily level or for the entire weekend:
Option 1: General Admission – General Admission (GA) tickets offer spectators access to select areas of the course including access to the flymart and space round hole one.
Option 2: VIP Pass – VIP Passes give spectators access to roped off areas at some primary greens as well as the pool area and an outdoor bar and tables. A VIP Pass provides spectators with the highest level of access at the event.
**Thursday is General Admission only as it will feature field events, side games, and a flymart. Spectators who purchase a 3-Day VIP Pass will get GA access on Thursday for free or a ticket can be purchased separately or as part of the 4-Day GA Pass.
Fundraiser Mutants
A limited amount of Mutants can be found for sale to benefit the Disc Golf Pro Tour Match Play Championships online at the DGPT Pro Shop this Friday. Additionally, you can pick one up at the Steel Club from the Disc Golf Pro Tour mobile pro shop during the event.
Eagle McMahon will be doing a Mutant signing after his round 1 match on Friday, September 17 at the Disc Golf Pro Tour pro shop.
The "Cybertruck" of mid-ranges, The Mutant is a truly unique midrange. The design principle for this mold was to create a disc with no rounded surfaces. It is an extremely overstable midrange with low glide that can handle even the toughest of headwinds. Great for both backhand & sidearm shots and situations where you need extreme dependability
Team Discmania
Discmania will have the following players competing:
Eagle McMahon seed #1
Kyle Klein Seed #4
Gavin Rathbun #6
Colten Montgomery #16
Steel Club
The Steel Club DiscGolfPark, designed by DiscGolfPark Course Designer Steven Braud, was established in 2018. Located on the beautiful grounds of the Steel Club in Hellertown, PA the Steel Club has a Donal Ross designed golf course, pool, bar, restaurant and more.
Players will compete on a modified 12 hole layout. Simon Lizotte, Steve Brinster and Braud set out to create a layout that will both test players and keep fans on the edge of their seat all weekend long.
