As many of you may already know, an all-new European PDGA Major, the Disc Golf European Masters, is about to take place in Stockholm, Sweden from 17th to 20th of July. This will be the first time the European Masters will be arranged, and we are planning to make it a staple in the PDGA Event Schedule, running every two years. Just like with the Nokia, Finland -centered European Open, the Discmania Staff is heavily involved with the European Masters. Our CEO Jussi Meresmaa is running things as the head of tournament organization, while many other familiar Discmania staffers are handling other important tournament tasks.
With a total of 144 world class athletes taking part in the tournament, the inaugural European Masters will be one to remember. It's also the only chance to see the very top competitors of this sport in Europe this year. The stats sure look promising:
- 35 over 1000-rated players
- 14 different countries represented
- 5 MPO Division World champions
- 4 FPO Division World Champions
- 4 rounds of Disc Golf action
- 1 world class course with 18 holes, Par 64 and total length of 2772 meters

Team Discmania will also be well-represented at the European Masters, with Simon Lizotte, Avery Jenkins, Tobias Östling, Leo Piironen and promotion team members Anders Swärd, Kristian Spliid, Mikael Birkelund, Juho Vähätalo, Juho Rasmus and Jessika Edwardsson taking part this year. Simon has been very dangerous all year and may very well go all the way to the top after struggling flu to finish at 6th place at the years first PDGA Major, the Japan Open. Avery has also won Majors before and knows the Järva DiscGolfPark pretty well, this being the 3rd consecutive year he is attending a tournament there. The local favorites Tobias Östling & Anders Swärd may also be packing a surprise in their hats, as both know the course really well and definitely can play some world class Disc Golf in front of the home crowd.
How to follow the event
If you have any kind of chance of being present at the European Masters to see the tournament, we wholeheartedly recommend you to do so. As stated before, it packs the highest level of competition in any Disc Golf event in Europe this year. On top of this, we strongly believe that as the sport of Disc Golf keeps growing this event will grow into being a huge sports event, comparable to one of those in current mainstream sports. By being on site to witness the first ever European Masters, you earn the life-long bragging rights to say that you were there when it all began ;)
The SpinTV tournament coverage
If you are unable to come see the event on site, there's multiple ways to follow the action online. The SpinTV will be on-site to bring sweet play-to-play coverage from the final round as well as some other videos from Järva DiscGolfPark. As always, the SpinTV videos will be edited after the event and the final round videos will be published after the event.

Just like at European Open 2013 and Japan Open this June, our staff will be posting live video & picture updates from the course thru the event instagram account.

Results & Live Scoring
There will be also live scoring available for all groups, with updates after holes 6, 12, 15 and 18. During the event, the live scoring will be available at pdga.com/live. The tournament results & preliminary round ratings will be posted to the PDGA event page after each round. Daily reports from the tournament and a whole lot of useful information will be available at the tournament website, so make sure to bookmark that one.
TV Broadcast & Live stream
Last but most certainly not least, there will be a 110-minute live TV broadcast available from the final round of the European Masters on Finnish National TV. The same broadcast will be available as a cost-free web stream without country restrictions. The live stream will be broadcasted with Swedish commentary on Sweden's public broadcast company SVT's SVT Play live stream service and with Finnish commentary on the Finnish equivalent, Yle Areena.
