Team Discmania’s Grady Shue has been named the 2017 Professional Disc Golf Association Rookie of the Year. Shue earned the highest amount of tournament points in 2017. Disc golfers earn points for top-10 finishes at Majors and PDGA National Tour events, top-five showings at A-Tiers, and any B-Tier wins.
Shue won seven of the 35 events he played in 2017. Along with wins at the Kentucky State Disc Golf Championships and the Fall Disc Golf Classic, his season was highlighted by impressive finishes at the Vibram Open (11th) and USDGC (12th).
“Rookie of the Year sounds nice,” Shue said. “The list of names that I’ve joined is impressive. It’s an honor to be a part of something that a lot of people worked so hard to achieve.”
We’re proud of Shue at Discmania and believe this is just the start of a successful career. After finding him at the Discmania Combine, it is only a matter of time when Shue is a household name in disc golf.
