This January Discmania and Simon Lizotte embarked on a project. The goal of this endeavor was to get Simon accustomed to the life a touring disc golf pro in the United States during the season 2014. At the start of the year Simon moved to California and started carrying out a training plan together with his coach Avery Jenkins.
In the light of Simon's recent tournament performance we can safely say he has adapted to the US tour life at the very least. His first very impressive feat was the 2nd spot in a PDGA National Tour Elite Series event - The Texas State Disc Golf Championships. Then, just couple weeks ago, he was victorious on U.S. soil for the first time when he won the Eagle Eye Open in Armuchee, GA. Last weekend he exceeded all expectations by winning the Glass Blown Open. "The Wunderkind" took the first spot by a five throw margin in a very tough company: the runner-ups were Paul McBeth and Jeremy Koling.
Simon's great performance is also evident in his round ratings. The average rating from these three events is 1056. In the Texas State Championships' his three round average was a mind blowing 1070. The preliminary average rating for the three rounds at the Glass Blown Open is 1062, while the four round average of Eagle Eye Open is a "modest" 1035.
We're extremely proud to have Simon in Team Discmania. We're sure that he'll continue to impress us with many more victories that lie ahead!
