The Disc Golf Pro Tour continued it’s trek around the country as traveled to Burlington, Kentucky and the famous Idlewild course for the Idlewild Open.
Weather played a huge factor over the weekend as the first round was cut short due to severe thunderstorms that rolled through. Very few competitors were able to finish the first round which setup two rounds on Saturday before the finish on Sunday.
Nate Perkins Doesn’t Give Up, Finishes Fourth
After a fifth place finish at the Silver Cup A-Tier in Wisconsin, Perkins used that momentum to his advantage as he opened the first round with a 60 (-7) to put himself in third place.
After the quick turn around for Round Two, Perkins couldn’t find the birdies he found 18 holes earlier. Perkins only had three biridies on the front nine and couldn’t capitalize on chances to close out the second round. His 67 (Even) saw him slide down the leaderboard, but was still in contention as the weekend started to close.
Perkins shook off the second round and got his groove back in the third and final round of the Idlewild Open. His 69 (-8) was good enough to see him jump eight spots and finish in fourth place in the latest DGPT event. His -15 for the tournament put him just five shots behind the top spot.
