Team Discmania dominates Berlin Open

One of the longest running Disc Golf tournaments in Europe, the traditional 27th Berlin Open was competed at Volkspark Rehberge, Berlin last weekend. Like in most German events, Team Discmania was well-represented, with Simon Lizotte, Avery Jenkins, Dominik Stampfer, Jerome Braun and our newest Promotion Team members Kristian Spliid & Mikael Birkelund competing in Discmania colors.

Before the Berlin Open 2014, Simon was holding a pretty respectable track record of 5 consecutive wins from the very event in the past 5 years. Despite having to share the first place after the first round after shooting a matching 50 with Dominik Stampfer & Jeppe Ask Sörensen, cruising to his 6th consecutive Berlin Open victory was no problem for Simon, who shot an amazing 1058-rated 46 and even more amazing 1078-rated 44 in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

After some solid Disc Golf on the semis & finals, Simon ended up taking the cake by 7 shots before his tour mate & coach Avery Jenkins who took the 2nd place. As Discmania Tour Team's Dominik Stampfer secured the 3rd, the Team Discmania ended up taking the whole podium for the 2014 edition of Berlin Open.

UPDATE 24.6.2014: In 2010 the Volkspark Rehberge summer tournament was titled "Berlin Classics", while a separate event titled "Berlin Open" was held in another park in Berlin during autumn 2010. Simon did win the 2010 Berlin Classics in Volkspark Rehberge, but did not attend the autumn tournament.
