On a blistering summer day in St. Louis, the first Discmania Combine of the 2023 season took place. It was a scorching 101-degrees (110-degrees in the shade) but that didn't scare the likes of 28 resilient player from all over the country in attendance for a chance to make Team Discmania.
This particular event sold out in less than 2-mins just to show how high the demand for these events really is, especially when it's one of only two events and the only Discmania Combine in the United States this year (the other is in Canada). But even more impressive was that 13-States were represented and the national diversity at any combine event ever.
A lot of newer players were participating along with a few veterans and two players from previous events in recent years giving it another shot. This was the time to shine, outperform the competition and showcase their throwing skills under pressure.

Highlights from St. Louis
Some of the highlights from the combine event was the performance by Paxton LeGrand, a junior player from Anderson, MO who finished 7th at the 2023 Junior Disc Golf World Championships.
Also there was excitement on the approach field by Riley Hovis from Marquand, MO with a throw-in on his final throw from the 200 ft station as he blew the basket up with a dead-center spike hyzer.
And capping things off, Austin Hudson from Gastonia, NC shot a fire round of 47 to take the full 100-points in the round of golf to move up the leaderboard.

Huge thanks to Team Discmania member Al Kennon for rolling out the red carpet for this event. He handled all of the logistics and booking of the events field along with the Willmore Disc Golf Course. Special thanks to Damon Morstatter from Illinois who made the trip down just to give back as one of our biggest brand ambassadors. Thanks to all of the volunteers that provided assistance and helped to make this event happen.
An overall great event, the next Discmania Combine is in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Saturday, September 23rd at the Raptors Knoll Disc Golf Course, so stay tuned...
