Discmania proudly presents our PDGA Major event, European Open! Disc golf’s top talents travel from across the globe to the international stage in Tampere and Nokia, Finland for a chance at the coveted European Open Championship Trophy.
European Open serves as Europe’s largest and most prestigious tournament. Our team continues to build on this legacy, bringing all the passion and spectacle from previous years - plus even more in 2024! Competition starts July 18th at Nokia DiscGolfPark!
The Legacy Continues
We at Discmania take great pride in hosting one of the world’s grandest international disc golf spectacles. At every step we consider the experience for the players, the spectators on scene, and those enjoying from the comfort of their favorite streaming device.
Players and viewers alike can expect the grand stage set in Nokia, Finland at Nokia DiscGolfPark as in years past. The European Open experience comes with pristine course maintenance, spectator viewing areas for massive galleries, European Open Pro Shop both in person and online, and much more!
Tampere Hosts European Open for the First Time
Special for this Summer, and for the first time in the history of the tournament, European Open visits Tampere Disc Golf Center. This championship level property and layout brings an excellent combination of wooded and meadow fairways, as well as elevation changes sure to challenge our elite field of players.
The competition concludes in a final round at Nokia on the world famous "Beast" layout. For the 9th time the European Open Champion will be crowned on the Beast’s 18th green - a spectacle witnessed by thousands of attendees gathered in person on the course.
Both venues provide great views of the top athletes during competition, wonderful services such as food and games in the esteemed vendor village, and even exclusive discs and apparel at the dedicated European Open Pro Shop!
Team Discmania Ready for Action
What would a premier international event be without the #1 disc golfer? Luckily, we don’t have to find out. Gannon Buhr makes his first trip to Europe this year, and this will mark his first attendance at the European Open. Gannon, no stranger to clutching PDGA Major victories, looks to go 1 for 1 on European Opens attended and won!
Niklas Anttila, the Nordic Phenom himself, looks to defend his home advantage at European Open. As the reigning and 3-Time Finnish National Champion, and Tampere native, he strives to bring the Champion title home to Finland. Niklas also comes into European Open with an advantage, as he has played the newly added Tampere Disc Golf Center several times - meaning more course knowledge than most of the other competitors.
Kyle Klein comes back to European Open with a vengeance, after taking second place in 2023 by just 1 stroke. Returning to European Open 2024 with even more experience on The Beast, and no stranger to Major victories himself, the USDGC Champion charges toward his second PDGA Major victory.
Ella Hansen also returns this year for her second European Open. Her debut in 2023 found her in 6th place, an impressive finish (or should we say, Finnish) for never having played the course before. She will face a similar challenge with Tampere DGC, but again may prove more adaptable than others who rely on their familiarity with the Beast for their success.
Reinvented MD4 Emerges
The European Open approaches fast and to celebrate the occasion we prepared the first run of the Reinvented MD4!
This European Open fundraiser brings the exclusive prototype in stunning Metal Flake C-Line plastic. Looking for the perfect compliment to your mid-range game? MD4 brings an added notch of stability compared to MD3, meaning you can give it that extra boost when you need it most and count on it to finish to the ground reliably every time.
