About Josh:

My disc golf journey started like many in the last 10 years. My first round of disc golf was played with an industry friend in 2019 before COVID began. During COVID I found that disc golf was an incredible way to relax and enjoy nature with the wife. As things started to open back up, I started searching for leagues and tournaments to participate in. I quickly found out that I was in love with this sport. 

One of the first discs I fell in love with was the c-line md3. It was truly the first disc that clicked with me and gave me confidence I hadn't previously had. From there on out Discmania became one of my favorite companies to support. My first interaction with the family at Discmania came from hosting an adult and children's clinic at Front Porch Fest in Stuart, VA. The support we received from the Discmania team was above and beyond and I knew then that they were something special. 

Once COVID had passed I became more involved with the local disc golf community. I was able to work with local children's programs, host a form and history clinic with George Sappenfield, learn how to direct tournaments, and help bring disc golf to the 2024 North Carolina Brewers Convention. Each event inspired me to do more and helped me become better at helping my community. Because of that, Im lucky to say I have become part of the leadership team at Back 9 Discs, located at Neatman Creek Disc Golf Course. The future is bright and with the backing of the Shield, no goal is out of reach. 

Notable titles and feats:

• Held a children's day with the Family Justice Center
  
• Hosted a clinic day with Dan Hastings
• Teamed up with local disc dyers to raise money for Forsyth county humane society
• Hosted multiple tournaments, largest being the B-Tier Neatman Cup
• Working with local governments to develop more disc golf properties in NC and VA
• Held a disc golf clinic at Front Porch Fest, a music festival in VA
• Became part owner of Back 9 Discs
• Facilitated a charity event in partnership with the North Carolina Brewers Guild to help raise money for local industry members who were affected by Hurricane Helene
• Helped Discmania become the first official disc golf industry honorary member of the North Carolina Brewers Guild
